An internal routing layer for the lab's own workflow: it sends work to local or cloud models by task type, and promotes a model for a task only after evaluation. There is no public repository; the public evidence is the lab's write-ups of its evaluation runs, which report internal telemetry.
Problem
Cloud models are powerful but expensive; local models are cheap but uneven across task types.
Experiment
Route work between local and cloud models using task classification, quality evaluation and promotion gates.
Shipped artifact
An internal control plane with health checks, promoted model slots and LLM-as-judge evaluation.
Result
Some task classes can be routed to local models while higher-risk reasoning stays on stronger cloud models.
What we learned
Model choice should be empirical and task-specific, not brand-specific.
